The Position

Our client is seeking to fill a Hybrid Remote SBA/USDA Loan Closing Specialist role in the Tampa, FL area.  This position is responsible for handling all aspects of SBA 7a/504/Express and USDA/OneRD loan closings and pre-closing reviews, post-closing review and uploading to OnBase (Banking system) and nCino (loan processing system), must have ETRAN experience. 

This position comes with a generous salary of up to $100K and a full benefits package. (This is a hybrid remote remote position)

SBA/USDA Loan Closing Specialist responsibilities include:

  • Work with Loan Officer/Lender to complete the Closing Checklist, provide “NEEDS LIST” and schedule a call with Borrower/Guarantors to address issues/concerns/documentation
  • Enter loan package into SBA One/ETran/Wizard to get the SBA Authorization
  • Send 327 Action if revision of the SBA Authorization is required
  • Update the closing checklist as due diligence items are received/reviews for additional documentation required to satisfy the SBA/Bank Regs
  • Email the SBA/USDA Credit Analyst of any changes needed to update the Credit Memo based on changes to documentation/due diligence documents, and any changes to loan amount, if needed.
  • Engage closing attorney (and title agent, if RE is included)
  • Pre-closing package review (include loan officer), loans above $2million require submission to the CLOSING/LOAN DOC REVIEW Dept prior to closing. 
  • Fund loan according to the SBA Authorization and Credit Memo
  • VERIFY “CASH INJECTION” and supporting documentation (complete Cash Injection worksheet)
  • Update nCino file/folder/DocMan etc to close out the loan in nCino and move to Servicing
  • Send file to SBA/USDA Portfolio Manager after closing, for initial pre-closing review and post closing review, and future disbursements
  • Submit any/all construction documents to the Construction Dept/Plan & Cost Review, and SBA/USDA Construction Monitoring Specialist (Loan Servicing Specialist) 
  • Engage construction monitoring vendor
  • Monitor on-going construction draw requests, and change orders
  • Work directly with the SBA/USDA Portfolio Manager to request any changes to the Use of Proceeds, draw requests, overruns, change of ownership, collateral values, etc
  • Ensure that Loan Covenants are included in the Loan Agreement (see Conditions)
  • Clear Form 1919 issues, arrests &/or INS verifications
  • Prepare SBA Application/Credit File (the Closing Assistant/Loan Servicing Assistant typically performs this function.
  • Review the Application/forms/Packaging Checklist in nCino, ensure that all forms are correct, and in the DocMan/Placeholder, or add revised forms (if needed)
  • Prepare internal reports and respond to internal inquiries from Loan Servicing/Loan Operations, booking, accounting, etc.
  • Manage LIPS and SBA Pass-thru/GL
  • Approve wires (GFT) for funding loan closing (wire funds to closing attorney)
  • Batch entries/GL
  • Send ServiceNow ticket, as needed, for booking errors/corrections.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary as is the ability to go ‘beyond’ the financial statements to determine best course of action. 
  • To process all Borrower actions while protecting the SBA & USDA guarantee as it relates to payment modifications, deferments, collateral release, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of the SBA SOP for Liquidation and Servicing 
  • Knowledge of the USDA B&I Program, preferred, but not required.  
  • Responsible for compliance with all regulations, laws, and bank policies and procedures that pertain to your day-to-day job responsibilities. 
  • Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of all compliance regulations pertinent to your assigned duties by successful completion of any courses assigned on a timely basis. 
  • Responsible for adherence to Bank’s Code of Professional Ethics and Conduct as well as observing and promoting compliance with the Code among fellow bank personnel, customers and vendors.
