The Position

Our community bank client is seeking to fill an Accounting Manager role in the Chicago, IL area. The successful candidate will focus on efficiencies in the accounting and finance department including potentially Blackline, call report automation, accounting close automation, reporting automation, budget system research, accounting system research, assisting on model building, and other special projects while establishing relationships and learning our business.

This position offers a competitive salary of up to $120K, a full benefits package, and may be bonus eligible. (This is not a remote position)

Accounting Manager responsibilities include:

  • Beginning to take on a leadership role in the accounting area including supervision of some / all Accountants, managing the close process, and other similar functions.
  • Assisting in overseeing the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures.
  • Preparing ALLL Analysis.
  • Monthly managing of the closing process and making it more efficient.
  • Assisting in automation/completion of the quarterly call report.
  • Monitoring debt levels and compliance with debt covenants.
  • Ensuring that accounts payable/receivables are paid/collected in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable.
  • Ensuring payroll entries are correct and posted in a timely manner.
  • Reviewing MSR valuation calculations for accuracy and compliance with GAAP and all other regulatory bodies.
  • Reviewing timely and complete financial statements.
  • Assisting in the process of completing the corporate annual report.
  • Reviewing variances from the budget and reporting significant issues to management.
  • Providing accountants work papers for audit and tax and reviewing final tax products.
  • Attending Accounting team meetings.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • Ten or more years of accounting experience at a financial services or mortgage banking institution required.
  • Five or more years of Management experience highly preferred.
  • CPA or MBA highly preferred.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills
  • Strategic thinking and planning of short-, medium- and long-term needs of the organization.
  • Maintain & foster positive relationships with customers and business partners
  • Provide professional communication in both oral and written expression
  • Excellent organizational, time management and analytical skills.
