The Position

Our client is seeking to fill a Chief Operating Officer role to be based near the Walla Walla, WA area. The selected candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling all day-to-day operational activities of the Bank.  Responsibilities also include marketing deposit and lending services, managing electronic banking services, new product research and development, customer service and delivery systems, employee enrichment, education and training, performance management, cost/benefit analysis of products, preparation of reports for management and board meetings, and related regulatory compliance.

The position includes a generous salary of up to $135K plus bonus and excellent benefits package.  Relocation assistance is available.

Chief Operating Officer responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining overall responsibility for all aspects of utilizing the Bank’s retail branches, including the implementation of strategies and establishment of goals, to achieve growth, profit, operational efficiency, and customer service objectives.
  • Supervising and working closely with management to ensure the operational effectiveness, sustainability, and resiliency of the Bank.
  • Driving change and improvement by convening, informing, supporting, influencing and mentoring.
  • Ensuring all Bank operations and IT are effectively integrated to achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • Recommending appropriate policies regarding pricing; promotion; product and marketing evaluations; and marketing plans.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to accommodate current and future organizational plans, programs, and needs.
  • Analyzing competitors’ products and services and suggesting changes to the Bank’s products and services when necessary.
  • Providing the highest level of customer relations and service; and ensuring compliance with Bank policies, procedures, and processes as well as regulatory compliance.
  • Performing supervisory duties of department staff, coordinating staff for coverage in all related areas of the department.
  • Maintaining a strong, open line of communications with the Board of Directors, Management and staff.
  • Synthesizing complex or diverse information; collecting and researching data; using intuition and experience to complement data; designing workflows and procedures.
  • Actively participating in community organizations and events to enhance the image and reputation of the Bank in the communities.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • B.S. /B.A. in Operations Management or similar discipline or equivalent work experience (Master’s Degree preferred).
  • Ten or more years of retail banking or related corporate sales/marketing experience – with at least five years of management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage/lead complex projects and a large team of customer-facing and back-office staff.
  • Outstanding leadership skills.
  • Can demonstrate strategic planning skills
  • Thorough knowledge of bank operations.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite.
