The Position

Our client is seeking to fill a Commercial Loan Closer role in the greater New York, NY market. The Loan Closer’s primary responsibility for ensuring the completeness of the loan file and prepares preliminary, closing, and renewal loan documents in accordance with the approved terms, bank’s policies, and in compliance with federal and state regulations. Additional responsibilities include monitoring and enforcing post-closing exception items and working closely with customers and attorneys to manage the loan closing.

This position offers a generous salary of up to $75K plus bonus and a full benefits package.

Commercial Loan Closer responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing loan files for completeness upon receipt and updating data in the system of record as needed prior to submitting to underwriting.
  • Preparing preliminary loan disclosures in compliance with any and all applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Requesting title searches, title policy commitments, UCC searches, insurance certificates, articles of organization, operating agreements, trust agreements, corporate by-laws, and legal opinions.
  • Maintaining a pipeline of loans, ensuring timely flow of loans through the process.
  • Monitoring and ensuring closing dates and company deadlines are met.
  • Ensuring all fees are properly and fully collected at closing.
  • Ensuring all documentation necessary to obtain a loan approval has been received, reviewed, and updated in the system of record.
  • Post-closing documentation review and enforcing receipt of closing binders and exception items by working closely with attorneys and the Commercial Loan Officer.
  • Disbursing loan funds after closing and setup loan documents within established timelines.
  • Verifying the accuracy of all information provided by borrowers at the time of loan application including but not limited to income, assets, employment, liabilities, and residency.
  • Analyzing and assessing both personal and business tax returns, including all schedules.
  • Fulfilling documentation verification requirements for loan approval including but not limited to verbal and/or written verifications of employment, assets, mortgage, and rent.
  • Completing and issuing all required re-disclosures in the event of a changed circumstance.
  • Maintaining consistent communication with customers throughout the loan process, assisting them with questions including updates on loan status and notifying them of additional requirements.
  • All other assigned duties.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or a combination of experience and education.
  • Three or more years of related experience in lending and banking operations with an emphasis on commercial lending.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in analyzing and assessing personal tax returns and business tax returns.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively with both internal and external customers.
  • Efficient with the use of a personal computer, Microsoft Office products, and other loan software.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
