The Position
Our bank client is seeking to fill an Assistant Bank Controller role in the greater Chicago, IL market. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the general ledger accounting system and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles. Assisting with the preparation of all internal and external financial statements and related reports and meeting all filing deadlines.
This position offers a salary of up to $100K plus bonus and full benefits package.
Assistant Bank Controller responsibilities include:
- Analyzing financial information to prepare financial reports for review by senior management.
- Completing Call Reports.
- Participate in the ALLL process.
- Assisting the Controller with the necessary regulatory filings within the required timelines.
- Acting as the primary contact between the company and its core general ledger processor.
- Monitor reporting for the investment portfolio.
- Preparing for monthly accounting close and consolidation process.
- Coordinating and managing internal and external financial audit processes.
- Processing accounts payable, facilitating daily accounting functions through the completion of postings within the general ledger.

You also bring the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA designation preferred, but not required.
- Four or more years of related business experience including audit or banking.
- Experience working for a financial institution is a plus.
- Proficient in PC software such as Excel, Word, and Access. Excellent attention to detail and emphasis on accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills: verbal, listening, and written.
- Ability to work well under pressure, set priorities, meet deadlines and resolve highly complex financial problems.
