The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Bank Controller role located in the Shreveport, LA market. The successful candidate will be supervising workflow in the accounting department, which includes accounts payable, fixed assets, cash management, daily balancing functions, and financial analysis.

This position offers a generous base salary of up to $100K and an excellent benefits package. (This is not a remote position).

Controller responsibilities include:

  • Delivering effective financial support and analysis to the management team, both personally and through the accounting staff.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of all transactions affecting the general ledger, financial reports, and subsidiary accounts in accordance with GAAP/USA, State, and Federal regulations.
  • Providing supportive financial analysis in development through coordination with senior management.
  • Supervising month-end financial reporting, including Board reports and asset-liability management reports.
  • Assisting the President with the development of the annual budget.
  • Monitoring ongoing progress of annual budget.
  • Supervising the completion of mandatory regulatory reports.
  • Coordinating annual audits.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the daily liquidity position of the organization as well as an efficient cash management program.
  • Researching and interpreting data, making recommendations, and monitoring assignments to effectively support management decision-making.
  • Developing and maintaining all accounting policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • B.A. or B.S. degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Five or more years of relevant experience in a financial institution.
  • CPA designation is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP and federal and state regulations.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and apply them in accordance with generally accepted accounting and finance principles.
  • Effective leadership skills and the ability to coach and develop staff to achieve goals and maintain respectful relationships with members and with each other.
  • Proven ability to effectively cope with stressful situations daily in a high production structured environment.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software, email software, and the use of the internet.
