The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Bank Controller role in the Bowling Green, KY area. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing counsel and recommendations to the CFO and other Executive Team members to strategically enhance financial performance, business opportunities, and financial implications.

The position includes a generous salary of up to $130K and an excellent benefits package. (This is not a remote position).

Bank Controller responsibilities include:

  • Key aspects of financial management and accounting including asset and liability management, budgeting, forecasting, liquidity, investments, and capital planning.
  • Leading, motivating, inspires, and directing staff and creating successful partnerships with internal and external resources.
  • Building and nurturing strong relationships to influence desired outcomes and achieve organizational goals.
  • Providing recommendations for potential improvements to the balance sheet mix and/or income and expense categories, as well as improvements for products, services, processes, and reporting.
  • Evaluating and analyzing product profitability.
  • Planning, implementing, managing, and controlling financial-related activities in accordance with GAAP and state and federal regulations.
  • Creating, maintaining, and executing accounting and finance policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Managing cash and the investment portfolio to ensure maximum yield while maintaining adequate liquidity.
  • Evaluating short and long-term strategic financial objectives.
  • Partnering with senior leadership of all cross-functional business units on issues of strategy, tactics, and execution necessary to execute and carry out enterprise priorities and objectives.
  • Developing performance measures and monitoring systems that support the organization’s strategic direction.
  • Providing detailed financial reporting to the Board of Directors and regulatory agencies.
  • Serving as a thought leader while collaborating with business colleagues to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Evaluating business initiatives and opportunities for alignment with strategic objectives and budget constraints.
  • Providing leadership and coaching to associates while fostering a culture of accountability, professional development, high performance, and ethical behavior.
  • Developing and coordinating the preparation of the annual operating budget in collaboration with the Executive Team, the ALCO, and the Board of Directors.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting. Advanced degree and/or professional certification preferred (e.g. CPA, MBA, CMA, CFA).
  • Five or more years of experience in a leadership capacity.
  • Five or more years of experience in finance and/or accounting.
  • Credit union, banking, or public accounting experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of asset/liability management and investment practices and procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accrual accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Demonstrated communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate the risk/reward of decisions and impact on all areas of the business.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and in the use of the core processing platform.
  • Advanced proficiency with data analytics and visualizations and related tools.
