The Position

Our client is seeking to fill a Commercial (C&I) Banking Loan Officer role within the greater Los Angeles, CA market. The selected candidate will be responsible for identifying, examining, analyzing, evaluating, and authorizing or recommending approval/denial of customer applications for C&I loans and banking relationships. In addition, he/she shall identify and manage risk and bank relationships, including existing loans or relationships.

This position offers a generous salary, full benefits and is bonus eligible.

Commercial (C&I) Banking Loan Officer responsibilities include:

  • Generating new C&I business relationships for the Bank, including developing relationships extending beyond the initial loan request, to include other bank services.
  • Analyzing complex credits and preparing clear, complete written and oral presentations without assistance.
  • Managing a commercial banking portfolio of business clients, assessing and meeting their business and personal needs.
  • Effectively monitoring, administering and maintaining of existing commercial banking portfolio in accordance with Bank’s standards.
  • Performing sales activities to develop new relationships with business clients.
  • Developing and maintaining referral networks with local insurance agents, real estate brokers, accountants, attorneys and other professionals.
  • Maintaining credit quality in accordance with Bank guidelines.
  • Participating in all required training sessions for compliance.
  • Maintaining adequate controls to ensure compliance with consumer protection statutes/regulations in a defined area of responsibility.
  • Implementing bank-directed policy and changes relating to regulatory amendments.
  • Preparing monthly sales and production reports.
  • Ensuring proper loan documentation is prepared and monitoring and eliminating exceptions in a timely manner.
  • Attending all Loan Committee and Sales Meetings and participating accordingly.
  • Involvement in various community activities and organizations.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or other related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Four or more years’ experience in financial services industry, bank lending, loan review, and/or compliance procedures and policies or equivalent education.
  • Strong understanding of Commercial Real Estate fundamentals and experience with credit and financial analysis.
  • RMA’s CRC designation is a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of Federal and State regulations covering commercial banking activities.
  • Strong analytical ability with effective written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
