The Position

Our bank client seeks to fill a Credit Officer role in the Nashville, TN market. The selected candidate will be responsible for assisting in the management of credit risk of the loan portfolio including various reporting to bank management and the Board of Directors and assist the Chief Credit Officer in the management of the Credit Administration area.

This position includes a generous salary of up to $140K plus bonus and excellent benefits package. (This is not a remote position).

Credit Officer responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the Chief Credit Officer in formulating and deploying the Bank’s lending policies.
  • Assisting Relationship Managers in the review, structuring, underwriting, and approval of loan requests within the bank’s lending policies and procedures.
  • Providing recommendations on loan structure, terms, risk rating, and pricing.
  • Working with credit analysts and commercial lenders to ensure consistency and content of loan presentations.
  • Working with subordinate executives to assess the overall soundness of the loan portfolio and advice on policy questions, business development, staff requirements, performance appraisals, and salary administration as they relate to the lending function.
  • Preparing and distributing reports related to loan quality and growth trends and loan product concentrations.
  • Ensuring that the bank’s total portfolio complies with policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Assisting in preparations for bank examinations and loan reviews.
  • Assisting in written responses to loan reviews and applicable portions of bank examinations.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • B.S. /B.A. in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, or similar discipline required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Five or more years of commercial/real estate/business lending experience; preferably with a bank.
  • Five or more years of experience working in credit risk analytics and/or risk management with financial institutions including the development of credit policy, underwriting standards, and internal risk rating scorecards.
  • Proven record of strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Prior leadership and management experience required.
  • Superior negotiation, relationship building, and professional reliability.
