The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Credit Risk Officer role in the Houston, TX area. The successful candidate will provide support to the Chief Credit Officer in administering the Bank’s credit risk management efforts.

The position includes a generous salary of up to $130K and an excellent benefits package. (This is not a remote position).

Credit Risk Officer responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the Chief Credit Officer in ensuring the Bank maintains an adequate credit risk management process that complies with all banking laws, regulations, and internal policies and procedures.
  • Oversight and preparation of credit risk management reports for presentation to management.
  • Ensuring that the Bank maintains an adequate risk management process for the concentrations of credit and allowance for loan and lease losses.
  • Overseeing the scheduling and completion of Credit Risk special projects, reviews, support functions, and other tasks assigned by the Chief Credit Officer.
  • Assembling data and reporting risk management status pertaining to concentrations of credit.
  • Assisting in performing loan portfolio stress tests.
  • Recommending changes to policies and procedures, as necessary, to minimize risk and remain compliant with laws or regulations.
  • Reviewing internal and/or external audit reports for the lending area and assisting where needed to resolve any findings or recommendations and document compliance with state and federal regulations and policies and procedures.
  • Providing a quality reporting and recordkeeping structure that includes final reports, work papers, and support documentation.
  • Providing training to the credit department when needed.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Four or more years of related experience and/or training.
  • advanced experience, knowledge, and training in financial statement and tax return analysis typically resulting from a combination of education in accounting, financial and/or credit analysis, or related areas.
  • Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school, or financial industry-related curriculum, should be applicable to the financial industry.
  • Advanced experience, knowledge, and training in all bank lending and operational activities and terminology.
  • Basic knowledge of human resource and labor laws and policies.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, train personnel, write reports, correspondence, and procedures, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
  • Thorough understanding of management procedures; ability to plan department or Bank activities.
