The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Human Resources Assistant role in the Chicago, IL area. The successful candidate will be providing administrative support and assisting the department with various projects.

The position includes a generous salary of up to $70K and an excellent benefits package. (This is a hybrid remote position – State of Illinois.)

Human Resources Assistant responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the department with daily Human Resources functions and duties.
  • Providing clerical and administrative support to the department.
  • Maintaining payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data.
  • Maintaining and managing all payroll files and records.
  • Updating payroll changes by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and personnel transactions.
  • Determining payroll liabilities and preparing reconciliations.
  • Resolving payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information and answering payroll questions in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Scanning the environment to identify regulatory changes to stay in compliance.
  • Recruitment: post jobs, screen, and interview applicants.
  • Benefit administration: process, update, and reconciles employee benefits.
  • Managing new hire paperwork and onboarding process.
  • Processing department invoices for payment.
  • Monitoring HR deadlines and tracking documents.
  • Creating and preparing reports using HRIS & ATS.
  • Completing annual training to ensure skills and regulatory knowledge are up to date.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • One or more years of payroll processing experience required.
  • One or more years of general human resources experience required.
  • SHRM or HRCI human resources certification preferred.
  • Professional Payroll certification preferred.
  • Proficient with HRIS (human resources information systems) and ATS (applicant tracking systems).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Sound judgement and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with report writing.
