The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Jr. Bank Controller in the Joliet, IL area. This position is responsible for assisting in the management of the accounting and finance functions within the organization’s infrastructure.

This opportunity has a competitive salary of up to $85K and a full benefits program. (This is not a remote position).

Jr. Bank Controller responsibilities also include:

  • Performing a variety of accounting and financial control functions in conformance with established bank strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Supervision and developed multiple direct reports.
  • Overseeing general ledger accounting, fixed assets, and accounts payable.
  • Responsible for the preparation of FDIC call reports.
  • Preparing reports for senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Assisting with preparing certain budget items including depreciation forecasts, prepaid/accrual forecasts, and rent schedules.
  • Responsible for all general ledger maintenance including opening new accounts, updating custom reports, and maintaining interfaces.
  • Responsible for monthly financial report analysis, month-end, and year-end close.
  • Responsible for CECL, ALM and Liquidity Reporting, and Holding Company accounting.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and approving general ledger account entries and month-end reconciliations.
  • Reviewing regulatory reporting.
  • Liaison with internal and external auditors including preparation of annual audited financials.
  • Researching and implementing new changes to FASB accounting standards and accounting control procedures.
  • Preparing quarterly and year-end tax accrual analyses.
  • Assisting with system conversions.
  • Assisting with the documentation of procedures and policies within the accounting department.
  • Creating or modifying internal controls and related policies/procedures and quarterly testing of the operating effectiveness of the department’s key internal controls.
  • All other reasonable duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Four or more years of related experience with a minimum of three years in a bank accounting management position.
  • Knowledge of various financial accounting systems and software applications.
  • Problem-solving and reasoning skills are essential.
  • Performs any functions necessary, within the scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers.
  • Good communication, organizational and analytical skills.
