The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Mortgage Loan Processor role in the Opelika, AL area. The selected candidate will be responsible for the timely processing of residential mortgage applications ensuring that all loan documentation is complete, accurate, and complies with regulatory agency and internal policies. The candidate will work closely with customers and bank staff to ensure effective communication in processing, underwriting, and closing loans within required time frames.

This position offers a generous salary of up to $60K plus $50 per file bonus and full benefits package. (Remote position possible).

Mortgage Loan Processor responsibilities include:

  • Processing loans efficiently and accurately with strict adherence to agency, investor, and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Receiving loan application package from Setup Coordinator and/or Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO).
  • Providing administrative assistance to the mortgage team, including updating loan data for entry into the financial institution’s computers and assembling documentation for residential portfolio loans.
  • Preparing OR verifying for completeness and accuracy and mail any required early disclosure documents appropriate to the noted loan program.
  • Ordering and reviewing all loan file documentation including appraisals, title commitment, verification of employment, and deposits, etc.
  • Tracking and collecting outstanding documentation required for submittal of the loan application file to underwriting for final approval and follow up with MLO, customer, or referral source for missing items.
  • Processing, preparing, and mailing denial notice(s) and cancel files as required.
  • Assisting MLO clearing noted pre- and post-closing file conditions and/or exceptions.
  • Responding to or coordinating responses to all inquiries and/or requests by internal or external customers in regard to mortgage loans.
  • Supporting basic accounting, funding, and processing of new loans and loan payments and construction loan draws.
  • May assist or provide work direction to lower-level team members, performing those responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws. May provide input during the interviewing, hiring, planning, and performance appraisal processes.
  • Performing all other duties assigned.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
  • Five or more years of residential real estate experience required.
  • Advanced residential real estate mortgage lending knowledge, including government laws and regulations.
  • Banking experience preferred.
  • Analytical ability to use logic and reasoning to solve problems or issues.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Knowledge of computer software and experience with loan accounting systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and determine priorities.
  • Ability to manage a pipeline.
