The Position

Our client is seeking to fill an SVP, Commercial Banker role in the greater St. Louis, MO market. This position will be responsible for generating, evaluating, and approving commercial loans for processing, closing, and servicing for loans in the local bank’s commercial portfolio. They will also be responsible for the generation of revenue, profits, deposits, and plus other cross-selling opportunities.

The position includes a generous salary of up to $160K plus bonus and benefits program.

Commercial Banker responsibilities include:

  • Managing and supervising a team of commercial lenders.
  • Identifying deposit driven commercial relationships and presenting solutions using treasury management, wealth products, and other services.
  • Developing and managing new commercial deposit and loan accounts and client relationships while enhancing existing relationships.
  • Increasing the deposit base through various products, developing sound and profitable business relationships, credit assessment, and exceeding customer needs and expectations while complying with regulatory requirements.
  • Developing and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of all commercial products including loans, treasury management, trade service products, and deposits to facilitate cross-selling and enhance the client experience.
  • Monitoring market conditions, observing competitor impact, and makes recommendations to maintain a competitive and profitable product line.
  • Recommending credits outside lending authority to the next level or presents to the Loan Committee in accordance with established procedures.
  • Analyzing pertinent financial information and determining whether a credit is an acceptable risk as well as approving loans within the assigned lending authority, and company policies and procedures.
  • Ongoing monitoring of existing loans for conformity to terms and conditions.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelors’ degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Seven or more years of Commercial Lending experience preferred.
  • Must have demonstrated skills in commercial credit underwriting, business development, and portfolio management for mid-sized companies.
  • General understanding of building full banking relationships required.
  • General understanding of bank lending principles required.
  • Must be attentive to detail and accuracy when analyzing financial statements and presenting a credit package for formal approval.
  • Proven ability to produce business development results and cross-sales within a team environment with limited direction.
  • Must be highly responsive, achievement-oriented, results-focused, and a team player.
